Resumen
This chapter presents a review of quantitative data on gender inequalities and violence faced by female social science academics in research centers and universities in Chile. It aims to provide an overview of their access to higher education, their labor insertion, and the gender gaps in relation to the professional practice of their male peers. It also synthesizes the data on women’s scientific production, their access to research funding, and the impact of the productive and reproductive overload on their careers. It begins with an overview of international and Latin American data, which allows us to contextualize the Chilean information. Then the text delves into the Chilean government’s statistics and the diagnoses made by higher education institutions in the country. The final remarks discuss the three main conclusions of the chapter.
