Resumen

Introduction: Research management in universities refers to the policies, strategies, and practices aimed at administering, fostering, and leveraging the research outputs of these entities. This study seeks to conduct a comparative analysis of the research output management system in three state universities in Chile to identify best practices that can be replicated in similar institutions. Methodology: This qualitative research is based on a literature review and content analysis of information available on the websites of three selected universities. The criteria for comparison and analysis are established by the National Accreditation Commission (CNA) of Chile: research policies, promotion strategies and actions, and performance indicators. Results: The three universities share the objective of promoting academic excellence and social and scientific development, but they adopt different approaches. This is reflected in the analysis of each element of the research output management system. Concurrently, this study highlights both collective best practices and notable actions unique to each analyzed institution. Conclusions: In all cases, there are strengths in research management that can serve as models to be replicated in other universities.
