Resumen
Theoretical and empirical studies on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) included in the literature mainly target large companies, which generates a “knowledge gap” about the existence of the topic and its effects on small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). Considering this reality, this investigation has as its central purpose to explore the correspondence between the CSR and its impact in some key results indicators of the Spanish companies, with the purpose of delivering relevant information to the decision makers of these entities, supplementing the absence of investigations in this field. For it, a sample of 242 Spanish SMEs is used, selected at random from the SABI 2015 data base (Iberian Balance Analysis System). The level of relationship between CSR and possible results is analyzed in terms of market share, financial performance and investment for growth in SMEs. In general, the investigation showed that there was a positive relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variables, which leads to conclude that the greatest effort in the CSR of the companies results in greatest benefit, improving the financial performance and increasing the investments to increase the investment growth.
