Resumen
The potentiometric behaviour of maleic acid-vinylpyrrolidone copolymer p(MA-co-VP) was studied as a function of added (1:1) electrolyte. The copolymer composition as well as the first and second intrinsic ionization values pK0 were determined. The values of pK01, pK02 and ΔG0 (the standard electrostatic and conformational free energy change) were found to depend on the ionic strength. Also it was found that ΔG0 approaches a constant value when the added electrolyte concentration exceeded 0.5 M and the polyacid behaves like its monomeric analogue.
