Resumen
This article is a sociolinguistic approximation to the perceptions and assessments of their own performance with the Aymara language expressed by the Aymaras in the northern province of Parinacota, Chile. This is done on a systematization of data collected in 3 investigations carried out at different times, two of an ethnographic nature and one quantitative. Such data, verbal expressions such as responses to personal interviews and a survey, are analyzed from a sociocognitive approach. It is concluded that the predominant perception of the performance with the Aymara language expressed by the Aymaras consulted, stands out for the prominent aspect of being mixed or alternated with forms of Spanish. Consequently, this perception derives in a negative assessment that is manifested through a series of qualifying expressions of both Spanish and Aymara expressed by the same speakers. Such processes would imply another factor of loss and displacement of that language in Chile.
