Resumen
This paper intends to evaluate the way the Spanish colonizer introduced abundant modifications into the sacred space of Carangas and the precordillera of Arica, which acting at different levels, made the peoples who lived in the higher valleys of Arica and the Altiplano assume numerous changes. Adjustments brought about by the introduction of Christian graveyards can be observed in new burial modes, as well as at the levels of marcas (region) and ayllus, through the change of mojones (boundary markers), not all of which were removed from or redesigned in the ancestral space.
