Resumen
The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the relations between the selectivity in the access, the provision of teachers by students and the graduation rate in higher education. For this purpose, a quantitative study is performed using as information source secondary data from the Forbes ranking, corresponding to the 55 universities and colleges carry out their activities in the California State, USA. The data analysis is executed through multiple and stepwise regression. The results of the study show that institutional selectivity positively affects the graduation rate of students. Additionally, the provision of teacher by student has a significant statistical significance in the analyzed sample. Both variables explain 73.8% of the variance in graduation rate. Finally, we discuss a set of effects and implications for higher education.
