Resumen
At the beginning of 1976 the Chilean church created the Vicariate of Solidarity, with it the distance with the military dictatorship grew and this was reflected in the international media. The present work seeks to identify the gaze of the Spanish media against the denunciations of the Catholic Church regarding the Chilean regime, in a context in which Spain was walking towards a democracy. It is concluded that most of the media directly supported the position of the Church, from a particular event that aroused empathy in the peninsula, the hunger strike of relatives of disappeared detainees, reflecting the changes that Spain and its media were experiencing.
