N2 - This work presents a remote evaluation of the behavior of a greenhouse located in the Atacama Desert, Northern Chile, in order to improve the efficiency of water use. The proposed monitoring architecture consisted of wireless devices connected via WiFi and wireless communication protocols of the IEEE such as 802.15.4. The devices used in the architecture were temperature and humidity sensors, connected to a wireless WiFi module, which sent the data to a router with 3G/4G connection. These data were complemented with sensors connected to a weather station that provides information on soil moisture and temperature. The information obtained was sent through Internet of Things (IoT) protocols to a server in order to be processed. The data were presented on the platform (IoT Cloud). The purpose is to have real-time information, analyze it and make recommendations to the farmer regarding the behavior of the greenhouse. These evaluations were complemented with an analysis of water resources, salinity, and soil fertility. The crop used in the greenhouse were peppers (Capsicum annuum L). With the information generated in real time, it is made easy for the farmer to reach decisions regarding the greenhouse ventilation and the growing of peppers.
