Resumen
Peruvian migration in the Region of Arica and Parinacota, in Northern Chile, poses significant challenges to the educational system, since the children of migrants that have increasingly been incorporated into their classrooms are reshaping the sociocultural sphere. Although Peruvians are one of the most significant groups in the region, there is no empirical evidence to characterize this phenomenon. The aim of this study is to describe and characterize the presence and distribution of Peruvian immigrant students in the educational system in the region of Arica and Parinacota. Using a descriptive statistical analysis of information from various sources, we show that the presence and stratified distribution of these students in the education system is related to socioeconomic status and parental employment.
