Resumen
The migratory phenomenon in Chile has presented changing patterns in recent years. Mainly focused on Venezuelan migration, this article aims to understand the residential search and settlement process of Venezuelan women in Chile. To do this, qualitative interviews were conducted in Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, through which the main difficulties they must undergo to access housing, which transform into intertwined processes of racialization and feminization, were collected. However, the existence of multiple agency strategies used to obtain a place to live and take care of their families was also demonstrated. Thus, and from an intersectional approach that includes urban, racial, and gender studies, it is concluded that, although migrant Venezuelan women must face contexts of discrimination and segregation in the search for housing, they also establish collaborative mechanisms that allow them access, such as bonding, cohabitation, shared management, and networking.
