El Estado unitario en la doctrina constitucional chilena. Una concepción no controvertida

Resumen

The purpose of this article is to give an account of how contemporary Chilean doctrine defines the unitary state as a constitutional concept. Along with presenting the hegemonic reading, it is shown that both the Unitary State defenders and those who challenge it share the same (and only) meaning of the principle. The article presents the idea that, since there is a strong consensus around its content, the legal community treats it as a wholly defined and exhausted object, losing sight of its open and interpretive character. Such consensus has produced confusion between a (possible) conception of a unitary state and its concept.
