Resumen
The article examines how, within an industrial fishing crew in Iquique, a moral economy structured around gift and counter-gift practices persists. Through reciprocity in favors and goods, solidarity and group cohesion are maintained, while hi erarchies and power relations are simultaneously reproduced. Although the work takes place within a capitalist economy, the practices of giving, receiving, and returning continue to be fundamental to the social and symbolic order on board.
