Resumen
The main transformation dynamics of tertiary education systems in Latin America are reviewed and presented as a framework for understanding the major governance challenges faced by these systems. With this purpose I mind, a multidimensional and multi-actor approach to governance is used. To achieve the purposes outlined, to secondary sources of information that address the issue, primarily academic articles and databases are used. Our conclusion is that system governance must respond to structural, functional and organizational changes that result from enrolment massification and institutional differentiation. Tat this point the relevant literature is introduced.
