Resumen

The purpose of this work is to make known the work of the "Popular Instruction Society" in Arica, highlighting the promotion of education in the extreme north of Chile, through the concern that the institution had with the popular classes of that region. Through the investigation in primary and secondary sources, the action of a public charity cor-poration is exposed, establishing night schools for mens and womens proletarians.
