Resumen
Study and analyze the role of academics in Higher Education, will always be relevant if we consider the importance of professionals’ training, the exponential increase of the entrance to Universities, and the role that these institutions fulfill in our society as knowledge generators. In this line, this work has as main purpose to theoretically approach certain aspects related to the remunerations of the academics of the state universities of Chile. In order to achieve the above, a bibliographic review was carried out, of both indexed journal articles, and documents related to the topics proposed at the Latin American spectrum and also in the Chilean reality, particularly for the academics that are part of the Public and State Universities’ system. From this point forward, it is plausible to visualize the different elements that determine academic remuneration, depending on the characteristics of each university. Finally, we can conclude that academic remunerations varie between each institution, according to the particular characteristics that each of these possesses, in addition to the personal trajectory of the academic.
