Abstract
Antioxidants, including lycopene, are compounds whose primary function in our body is to protect or reduce the risks of oxidative damage caused by free radicals, related to diseases such as cancer or heart conditions. In our study, the content of this phytonutrient was evaluated in Naomi and “Poncho Negro” tomato fruit, during two seasons (summer and winter-spring), with an increase of their levels in both varieties during the winter-spring season, with a possible varietal effect and the temperatures, on the content of this pigment in the fruits.
