Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the scientific production related to gender in the academic staff in the context of tertiary education. To this end, a bibliometric and content analysis of journal articles indexed to Web of Science published between 1991 and 2020 is developed. Data analysis is carried out with the help of Bibliometrix and VOSviewer. The results show that, despite a strong increase in scientific production in the last decade, many articles in the sample relegate the issue of gender to one more analysis variable, which causes it to lose many times the relevance of the study. We concluded that, there are still several subtopics to address in the discussion of the gender of the academic staff.
