Abstract
By analyzing (2367.0 ± 11.1) × 106 ψ(3686) events collected in e+e− collisions at s=3.686GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we report the first search for the charged lepton flavor violating decay ψ(3686) → e±μ∓. No signal is observed. An upper limit on the branching fraction B(ψ(3686)→e±μ∓) is determined to be 1.4 × 10−8 at the 90% confidence level.
