Abstract
This article examines Chile’s saltpeter propaganda efforts in Europe, particularly in France. It explores the strategies used to promote this mineral and how these campaigns helped position Chile within the global fertilizer market. The analysis focuses on the work of Chilean agents across multiple platforms, including universal exhibitions, as well as journalistic and scientific publications. This multifaceted propaganda effort contributed to shaping Chile’s international image at the beginning of the 20th century, closely associating the country with the export of saltpeter.
