Abstract

Many different materials have been utilized by orthopedic surgeons for repairing the bones and polymers are one of them. Polymers have been used as a key component in biomedical applications and their uses are still expanding. However, the requirements of polymers used in bone and orthopedic surgery have been thoroughly investigated. The present chapter presents the various types of polymers used in bone repair, orthopedic surgery, and tissue engineering. The chapter also provides a general discussion about polymers and biodegradable polymers to be used in the above application.
