Abstract

The viscometric behaviour and the preferential solvation of poly(4-tert-butylphenyl methacrylate) (PBPh) in tetrahydrofuran/water mixtures have been studied. The results show that water enhances the solubility of this polymer. The system PBPh-tetrahydrofuran-water was studied in detail for 6 fractions of polymer. Analysis of the data shows a variation in the confirmational parameter Ko. This viscometric behaviour and preferential solvation are compared with those of polystyrene (PS) in the same mixture. The results are discussed.
