Abstract

This photograph shows the close-range photogrammetry setup used to document a cross-section of the Sycamore Gap tree at Fort Cumberland (Historic England), Portsmouth on August 2024. The imaging was conducted by staff from the Digital Humanities Lab at the University of Exeter. A camera was mounted on a mast supported by two tripods and moved incrementally along the pole at a consistent height, emulating a photogrammetric flight path. This approach enabled the capture of a series of overlapping images from a controlled trajectory.
