Abstract
This article is a study on the musical groups that participate in the festival of the Virgen del Carmen de la Tirana in northern Chile. The foundation of the groups of musicians developed in different periods of history, where the main musical groups (percussion, bronze, whistles, lakas) are inserted into the rituals of the festival. Of these, we can verify the existence of "dance bands" and "payed or independent bands" where the former are composed of percussion, the vast majority, while the latter are mainly made up of bronze bands.
