Abstract
In this article we seek to determine how present or absent the female image is in textbooks used and edited in Chile between 1990 and 2000 decades, paying attention to two aspects: on the one hand, the education from the manualistics point of view, especially focused in the analysis of Secondary Education during the transition period between LOCE and LGE educational reforms; on the other, the social debates about gender and women in a context of post civil-military dictatorship social and political changes. In this way, in the first part of the article, we will show some evidence that supports manualistics and its relation with the education of women. In the second part of this article, we will address how the concept of gender is developed in textbooks through images.
