Abstract
This research explores at a descriptive level the perception of senior management team members and academic directors belonging to universities regarding the dimensions of knowledge management dimensions, specifically, creating, sharing and applying knowledge in the context of their institutions. For this purpose a questionnaire developed, adapted and validated by Rodriguez Ponce (2007) was applied to a sample of 29 academic directors from 7 higher education institutions in northern Chile. Questionnaires were processed with descriptive analysis and crosstabs. The results indicate that on average there is a positive perception for the dimensions of creating (media=5,554), sharing (media= 5,414) and applying knowledge (media=5,404), with means above 5. Also, frequency analysis by gender showed that both have a positive perception. In conclusion, senior management team members and academic directors showed a positive perception for the dimensions of creating, sharing and applying knowledge, a tendency maintained for both women and men interviewed.
