Abstract

The main objective of this work was to design an interpretive ecological trail as a pedagogical strategy that will promote knowledge of birds and the defense of the Jaboque Wetland, supported by educational material (an illustrated guide) of the most common bird species that inhabit there, based mainly on the contributions provided by the local community. To this end, semi-structured interviews and meetings were conducted with the surrounding inhabitants, with whom we sought to recognize the knowledge and experiences about wetlands and birds, and in this way make their contributions contribute greatly to the present work. The interpretive trail consists of eight stations in which a series of complementary activities were proposed, which sought to encourage the mobilization of attitudes and values regarding wetlands and birds through the presentation of situations that would stimulate the formulation of questions that allow us to think about this natural space from a conservationist perspective. It also includes aspects related to wetlands, their formation, conservation status and birds in general. This material was proposed as a strategy to encourage both local community participation in the development of similar projects and the opportunity to enjoy spaces that provide the opportunity to observe and appreciate the biological diversity of birds and other wetland organisms. This approach seeks to foster changes in attitudes focused on conscious decision-making and concrete actions to protect birds and the ecosystems they inhabit.
