Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the perceptions of academic capitalism in managers and academics of a regional Chilean university. For this purpose, an exploratory and qualitative fieldwork was carried out to gather their perceptions on different dimensions of academic capitalism. The findings indicate that there is a shared perception of the impact of commercialization and commoditization, especially in relation to the search for advantages in the competition for student funding. At the organizational level, the primacy of managerialism to position competitively the institution in relevant markets is widely recognized. The article concludes with a summary and lines of research.
