Abstract
The complexity of social reality makes its study difficult, as we often encounter phenomena with hierarchical structures or different levels of analysis. The emergence of multilevel analysis seeks to increase analytical precision by explicitly incorporating this complexity, modeling hierarchical relationships, considering the dependence between observations, and providing estimates of the variability and replicability of parameters in different social contexts. This paper aims to stimulate reflection on the use, contribution, and suitability of multilevel analysis in the field of quantitative social research. To this end, a description of the technique is provided, including its main concepts and applications, followed by an explanation of its practical advantages and uses through the results of a multilevel study.
