Abstract
The depopulation of border territories, its distance and disconnection of the political center, the demographic and economic pressure of neighboring countries, among other aspects, have been a problem, dealt with both public policies and Chilean social sciences. Particularly the border of the north of Chile, the notion of inside borders has been the beginning of different approximations that present borders as problematic spaces for the State. From classic perspectives and critics of geopolitics, with the content of a series of interviews to key actors, this work presents a series of cases and public initiatives on this current challenge for the north of the country.
