Abstract

Universities are institutions with a long tradition and a significant role in national development. This study aimed to update the concept of ethical reflection within universities, taking into account the challenges these institutions face. A comprehensive review of the literature was conducted, analyzing topics such as university governance, academic integrity, leadership, gender equality, university autonomy, institutional transparency, and social responsibility, among others. Collaborative work among researchers from different institutions will enable us to propose concrete advances in improving aspects of institutional ethics, based on academic needs. The study of institutional ethics is a pending challenge in university research.
